Job Description

Summary

The maintenance supervisor will guide and direct staff of skilled maintenance professionals, maintenance technicians, and support personnel engaged in activities involving the installation, monitoring, and maintenance of plant equipment and facilities.

Education, Licensure and Experience

  • Combination of education and minimum of two years of work experience or minimum of five years industrial refrigeration and boiler experience equivalent
  • Minimum of two years of industrial supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience at a harvesting or processing USDA inspected meat facility preferred.
  • Operator I and Operator II certified along with CARO and/or CIRO preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (Please note: This in no way states or implies that these are the only duties you will be required to perform.   1. Achieve safety objectives by assuring the proper and safe operation of plant steam, refrigeration, and other utilities.
  2. Ensure all safety policies are followed by maintenance personnel and contractors.
  3. Work with the Process Safety Management Coordinator to ensure personnel are following all aspects of the PSM Program.
  4. Complete monthly safety audit and safety training.
  5. Maintain a safe working environment.
  6. Keep a daily written log, follow up on tasks that are not completed, and seek out help on tasks when needed.
  7. Provide vacation relief for other maintenance supervisors.
  8. Control maintenance related costs by efficiently scheduling hourly personnel and tracking parts and supply inventory costs to keep them at a minimum.
  9. Speak up on areas of cost savings improvement and promote a culture of good stewardship.
  10. Ensure all preventative maintenance schedules are completed on time.
  11. Manages the execution of all maintenance activities associated with assigned plant physical assets (buildings and equipment) so that the lifetime value of the Company’s investment in these assets is optimized.
  12. Responsible for the technical development of all assigned staff. Will participate in the recruitment, selection, coaching, evaluation, and development of all assigned maintenance personnel.
  13. Provide input for the preparation of budgets and implementation plans for maintenance, repair, capital, and reliability improvement expenditures (including the identification of outside resources when appropriate.) Accountable for adhering to various expense and capital budgets as assigned.
  14. Minimize plant mechanical delay by identifying problem areas and recommending corrective action when needed.
  15. Ensure compliance of plant policies, statutory codes, and regulatory requirements to include OSHA, EPA, and other environmental and safety regulations and guidelines.
  16. Ensure timely and accurate completion of all administrative duties.
  17. Keep the Plant Engineer and Superintendent of Engineering informed of equipment breakdowns, personnel issues, and maintenance improvements in assigned areas.
  18. Other duties as assigned.
